Northern Ontario

No matter where you go in this vast and diverse land known as Northern Ontario, you’re bound to find an adventure to excite or delight.

Take a narrated boat cruise of the beautiful 30,000 Islands aboard the Island Queen, which boards in Parry Sound. Stroke a snake, explore the depths of the ocean or operate the Canadarm at Sudbury’s Science North – internationally renowned for its uniqueness and the accessibility of its interactive exhibits. Celebrate the life and achievements of one of Canada’s best known singing stars at the Shania Twain Centre in Timmins. Swim with our furry friends (separated by a reinforced glass barrier) in the Polar Bear Habitat – the only polar bear rehab facility in the world – located in Cochrane. Here in Cochrane, you can also board the Polar Bear Express to Moosonee and Moose Factory, a rail excursion through some of Ontario’s most spectacular wilderness.

Head ‘North of Superior’ to Thunder Bay and the home of Fort William Historical Park – the largest reconstructed fur trade post in the world with 42 historic buildings and costumed characters who recreate early life here. Visit Sault Ste. Marie for a narrated voyage on the historic Sault Canal, built in 1859 to connect Lake Superior and Lake Huron. Climb aboard the Algoma Central Railway for the famed Agawa Canyon Tour. Or take a flight through float plane history at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.
