Summer Festivals and Events

Come summer, Ontario rolls out the fun at hundreds of festivals and special events. From dazzling carnivals and parades to fascinating art and music fests to spirited competitions and games, there’s a festive occasion for everyone.

Toronto is packed with exciting events. Experience the city’s multiculturalism at Krinos Taste of the Danforth, Corso Italia Toronto Fiesta and the Toronto Caribbean Carnival (Caribana™) Festival – a kaleidoscope of glittering costumes, island foods and Caribbean beats. Celebrate the diversity of the LGBT community during Toronto’s Pride Week, one of the three largest Pride celebrations in North America. Summer wouldn’t be complete without 10 days of ‘star’ gazing when Hollywood heads north during the Toronto International Film Festival.

Celebrate our nation’s birthday on July 1st with Canada Day entertainment, fireworks and festivities in Ottawa. Between Ottawa and Toronto, bask in the fun and sun at dozens of waterfront festivals and regattas such as the Kingston Dragon Boat Festival. Or let your spirits soar in Southwestern Ontario at the London Air Show and Balloon Festival.

Be swept away by soothing classical sounds at the Festival of the Sound in Parry Sound and the Elora Festival, only an hour from Toronto. Or dig swing, be-bop and all that jazz at six different festivals in the GTA and at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival.

Further north, greet costumed fur traders at Fort William Historical Park’s Great Rendezvous in Thunder Bay or be welcomed by colourful Aboriginal dancers at the Wikwemikong Cultural Festival on Manitoulin Island. And for something completely different – try the Garlic Festival in Sudbury.
