Wildlife Viewing

Stretching from Point Pelee to Hudson Bay, Ontario supports an astounding variety of wildlife. From the haunting call of the loon – the province’s official bird – to the sight of our industrious beavers – Canada’s official animal – there are so many ways to experience nature’s gift to Ontario.

Observe over 400 species of birds that call Ontario home. Spot our fine feathered friends at scores of locations including Point Pelee, which is also a resting point for thousands of monarch butterflies on their annual migration to and from Mexico. Cry wolf on an organized excursion into Algonquin Provincial Park and wait for the spine-tingling responses of the wolves.

See birds of prey or pet a flying squirrel at the Muskoka Wildlife Centre – an interactive learning park. Venture to Northern Ontario’s Chapleau Crown Game Preserve, the largest game preserve in the world where moose and bear are all part of the scenery. Or swim with furry friends at Cochrane’s Polar Bear Habitat and Heritage Village.
